The questions ‘What is the meaning of life?’, ‘What is your purpose in life?’ and ‘Why are we born?’ are often heard. We all have different answers and outlook on that idea. Our own perspective of our purpose in life defines our life’s decisions – what we want to do, where we want to live, what we want to become and who to socialize with. But then as we are greatly influenced by society and our constant longing for the happiness that we believed in, we tend to change our so defined ‘our purpose’. Most of the time we really have no clue what we really want to do in life. It is an everyday struggle.
We would hear statements that say, ‘Do what you are passionate about doing.’ But even if do, it would seem like there is something more that we needed to do, that we needed to be. We just could not be completely happy. The main issue here is the issue of the concept of ‘your life’s purpose’.
We don’t always get the idea that we were born for some higher reason. We are here because there are things that we were meant to do and there are people that we were meant to serve. Most of the time we do not realize it until we are already in that moment where we are faced with the challenge of embracing that purpose, and acting on it, even if it is not what we have thought about doing or expected. Our life was meant for a purpose. That purpose is not really about what we dream of or what we want to become. Our purpose is far more than our human minds can think of. The question is when will we be able to determine that what we are here for? Will we ever know why we are here?
We are here on earth for an undetermined and uncontrollable period of time. Amazingly, there is a higher power that leads us to realize our purpose in different ways for all of us. If we create and nurture that connection with God, we will begin to understand what we are here for, we will be able to hear that silent calling to become that person that he made us to be. How we realize our purpose is God’s gift. To live that purpose is a choice.
